    I guess people all …
I guess people all have their different priorities :) I had a P&S before getting a DSLR, and in the end I ended up selling my P&S simply because I never used it after I got used to my XTi.

    i actually find the …
i actually find the concept to b quite ingenious. I feel a lot of people get a DSLR w/o liveview and feel obligated to purchase a crap point and shoot. Now, you can choose how u want to take your pictures, whether it’s for the detail of one particular target or a simple group photo or w/e.

    Well, like my …
Well, like my comment said, both cameras are entry-level cameras, so they’re more or less the same functionally. Therefore, the only factor that should sway you into buying one way or another is the body itself, so you should try holding both bodies before deciding :)

Nikon and Canon both have extremely extensive lens choices, and both are very popular companies. You can’t go wrong either way.

    I honestly do not …
I honestly do not understand the concept of liveview on a DSLR. IMO, the biggest pro of a DSLR is the isolation that the viewfinder offers you so can focus exclusively on your shot. Having liveview just completely kills that isolation.

The XSi is a higher …
The XSi is a higher tier camera than the XS, so if you can afford it, go XSi.

Keep in mind though that if you’re just looking at entry level cameras, both Nikon and Canon will be great, the only difference being lens mounts and grips. Both offer very similar performance.

Because of that, I highly recommend you go to a camera store and physically hold both cameras from both Nikon and Canon, and simply go with the company that offers you a more comfortable grip.
